If you like sports technology, sports gadget and general sports news, then you’ve come to the right place here at Kinnick North.  You may have also guessed that we’re also fans of the University of Iowa Hawkeye Football Team.

Why Kinnick North?  Well, first off, Kinnick Stadium is home to the Hawkeye Football Team, and is named after Nile Kinnick, winner of the 1939 Heisman Trophy, who died in action during World War II.

So how did the “North” reference make it in there?  The biennial game between the Iowa Hawkeyes and Minnesota Golden Gophers traditionally brings out a raucous crowd of thousands of visiting Hawkeye fans to the Minneapolis Metrodome.

In 2002, after Iowa won a share of the Big 10 title at Minnesota, throngs of Hawkeye fans stormed onto the Metrodome field and tore down the goalpost, taking pieces of it home as souvenirs.  Thus, the Metrodome is now forever known as “Kinnick North”.

And so, to celebrate the indomitable spirit of sports fans everywhere, we’ve dubbed this blog Kinnick North.
